Athletics (Races)

Event Overview

This athletic event will consist of the following races for both boys and girls:

  • 100 meters
  • 200 meters
  • 400 meters
  • 4×100 meters Relay
  • 4×100 meters Mixed Relay
  • 4×400 meters Relay

Participants must follow all rules and guidelines to ensure a fair and safe competition.

Registration

  • Registration Fees: Individual events: Rs 250; Relays: Rs 700 (both including GST)
  • Eligibility: Participants must be registered students of the college and must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Participants’ ID: All participants must bring their college ID and college Bonafide (if representing college) for verification.
  • Cash Prizes:
    • Individual: 1st place – Rs 1500; 2nd place – Rs 1000
    • Relays: 1st place – Rs 2500; 2nd place – Rs 1500

Medals and Awards

  • Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each event (boys and girls).
  • Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 2 finishers as mentioned.

General Guidelines

Eligibility

  • All participants must be registered students of the college.
  • Athletes must carry their college ID cards for verification.

Entry Rules

  • Each athlete may participate in any number of individual events (100m, 200m, or 400m) and one relay event.
  • Each department/team can register only one relay team (4x100m) per category

(boys/girls).

Reporting Time

  • Athletes must report at least 40 minutes before their event.
  • Late reporting may result in disqualification.

Attire

  • Appropriate sports attire and running shoes are mandatory.
  • College-approved bib numbers must be worn during the event.

Warm-Up Area

  • A designated warm-up area will be provided.

Event-Specific Rules

100m, 200m, 400m Races

Starting Rules:

  • A crouch start using starting blocks is mandatory.
  • Commands: “On Your Marks,” “Set,” and starting gun/clapper.
  • A false start results in a warning; the second false start leads to disqualification.

Lane Discipline:

  • Athletes must remain in their lanes; violations result in disqualification.

Finish Line:

  • The torso crossing the finish line first determines the winner.
  • Times recorded using automatic or manual timing.

4x100m Relay

Team Composition:

  • Four runners, each covering 100 meters.
  • Lineup must be declared during registration; no changes after start.

Baton Exchange:

  • Exchange must occur within the 20-meter zone.
  • Dropped baton must be retrieved without obstructing competitors.

Lane Discipline:

  • Teams must remain in their assigned lanes.

Finish Line:

  • Final runner must finish with the baton in hand.

Judging and Scoring

  • Judges’ decisions are final.
  • Protests must be submitted within 15 minutes with a fee of Rs 200.
  • Photo finish technology or judges’ discretion will be used for tie-breakers.

Safety and Conduct

Medical Assistance

  • Medical staff will be available onsite.

Code of Conduct

  • Good sportsmanship is mandatory.
  • Misconduct (pushing, obstructing, abusive language) leads to disqualification.
  • Spectators must stay in designated areas.

  • Medals for top 3 finishers in each category.
