DESCRIPTION: Organised as part of FLAME Kurukshetra 2026 the tennis tournament featuring Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events. The competition follows a knockout format, with matches conducted under International Tennis Federation (ITF) regulations on FLAME University’s tennis courts. The tournament provides a platform for both emerging and established players from institutions and academies to compete for the championship title, with a single winner or team being crowned victor in each category.

DURATION: 24 – 26 January 2026 (3 days) 

Tournament Format

• Format: Knockout
• Match Duration (Inclusive of Transition, Toss, Warm-Up, and Play)
  • Up to Quarter-Finals: Approximately 45 minutes per match
  • 2nd Runner Up Match, Semi-Finals, Finals: Approximately 90 minutes per match
    • Please note: Durations are indicative averages and may vary based on actual match length
  • Team/Entry Size:
    • Men’s and Women’s Singles: 1 individual per entry
    • Men’s and Mixed Doubles: 2 individuals per team
  • Max Entries Per Institution: N/A

Age Restrictions: 27 Years (Eligibility is limited to candidates born in the year 1998 or thereafter)

Match Rules

• Match Format:
• Up to Quarter-Finals: One Full Set:
  • At 6-6, a standard tiebreak will be played
  • 2nd Runner Up Match, Semi-Finals, and Finals: Best of 3 sets:
  • Deciding set is played as a full set
  • In the deciding set, if the score reaches 6-6, a super tiebreak will be played to determine the winner.

Additional Rules:

• Let Serves must be replayed
• Deuce is 2 points to win
• Players are allowed 5 minutes of warm-up before each match
• No tennis balls provided for pre match warm-up: tennis balls will be issued only at the scheduled match time
• Any Modifications Specific to Kurukshetra: N/A

Refereeing & Decision Protocol

• Match Officials Present:
  • One umpire will be assigned per match
  • One tournament referee will oversee overall conduct
• Dispute Procedure: The umpire’s decision on the court is final and binding
• Finality Clause: All decisions by the officials and FLAME Kurukshetra organising committee are final
